Springtime on the farm…

Springtime on our little slice of heaven means more work!

Holy smokes… I have used muscles I forgot I had over the winter.  We have finished calving and now the cows are out to pasture. We had 3 bottle calves this year. I always get a kick out of them… they’re like puppies when they’re small and follow like the Pied Piper.Sunset Heidi

25 baby chicks are living the good life with Tonto the renegade chicken from last year. Baby chicks

Our crops are in. We have wheat and soybeans.  And we have fixed fence and reseeded alfalfa and grass.

Fixing PetuniaPlanting timeEquipment is fixed…

The garden is planted and the only thing up is the volunteer cilantro that comes back every year.. (I didn’t harvest it in time one year and the seeds …. well.. it’s a weed now)  Raspberries and Strawberries are looking good. Asparagus only so-so this year.  The plumbs and apples are in bloom and the yard is fragrant.

And the deer have had a veritable buffet at my lilacs… Thanks Missy for NOT barking at them.
